Scribbled Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus duboulayi)
The scribbled angelfish is among the most spectacular of the larger angelfishes. This highly desirable species is best showcased in a larger, well-maintained, fish-only-with-live-rock system (it is not reef-safe). An icon among Australian reef fish for its beauty, its body features a complex scribbled pattern over a dark bluish black base color. Its showy dorsal and anal fins are similarly scribbled with dark to light blue lines. Its bright yellow face is crossed by a dark bluish band that runs through the eyes; another, fat white and yellow band lie behind over the shoulder. A second yellow patch broadens from beneath the dorsal fin to cover most of the tail. Wild specimens of this species are considered to be a bit more delicate than other members of its family; however, these captive-bred individuals are considerably hardier and present a better chance of long-term success. C. duboulayi Species Information
The scribbled angel is fairly restricted in its distribution, apparently occurring only from Northern Australia to Southern New Guinea.Benefits of Aquacultured Marine Livestock
Aquacultured scribbled angelfish offer a huge advantage over wild-caught specimens. For example, when bred and raised under captive conditions, they adjust more easily to aquarium life. They are also much less likely to carry disease. Aquacultured specimens are more capable of tolerating shipping stress. Most notably, by purchasing aquacultured fish you support the aquaculture of marine livestock and help to make our hobby more sustainable!100% Alive on Arrival (AoA) Guarantee
We guarantee that every scribbled angelfish we sell will be Alive On Arrival and in good health. Should it arrive in any other state, we will either replace it free of charge (including shipping) or issue store credit if the total livestock loss is less than $40. Copepods (pods) are essentially required for any reef aquarium. They perform three important ecological tasks: (1) Graze on benthic microalgae, (2) scavenge detritus, and (3) serve as food for diverse zooplanktivores. They are so ubiquitous in nature, and even in captivity, that they commonly invade new tanks as hitchhikers on live rock, corals, etc. While …

In the Age of the Reef Tank, many cool (but not reef-safe) saltwater fish families that were once extremely population are now relative rarities. One such group, for sure, is the filefishes. This is too bad, as filefish are intelligent and possess abundant character. They are also quite “marine” in appearance and behavior; even the …
