Coral Beauty Angelfish (Centropyge bispinosa)
The coral beauty angelfish is certainly among the most attractive of the pygmy angels. While somewhat variable from region to region, coloration is usually blue/purple with a fiery red/orange and dark, vertical, broken bars on each flank. Though wild specimens have been relatively common in the trade for decades, this species remains highly sought after for its intense coloration and generally peaceful disposition.
In addition to being sustainably produced, these captive bred specimens are hardier, more social and guaranteed disease-free. While they get along well with most tankmates, only one of their kind should be housed per aquarium.

Coral Beauty Angelfish Species Information
The coral beauty angelfish (Centropyge bispinosa) naturally occurs across the Great Barrier Reef to Fiji and Indonesia. They are almost exclusively reef-associated and prefer water depths of 3-60 meters. They are usually solitary but sometimes form harems comprised of 3-7 individuals. While it feeds on a wide variety of items, algae is a major component of its diet.
Benefits of Aquacultured Marine Aquarium Livestock
Aquacultured coral beauties offer a huge advantage over wild-caught specimens. For example, when bred and raised under captive conditions, they adapt better to aquarium life. They are also less likely to carry disease. Even more, aquacultured specimens can better tolerate shipping stress. Perhaps most significantly, by purchasing captive-bred livestock you support the aquaculture of marine organisms and help to make our hobby more sustainable!
