Squamosa clam

The squamosa clam (Tridacna squamosa) is immediately distinguishable from its cousins in the dark, chocolatey brown background and bluish-white marbly spots on its large, showy mantle. Also, this species bears especially prominent shell flutes. Relatively hardy in captivity, this species is the best choice of tridacnid for newbie clam keepers.
