Description
Orangetail Damsel (Chrysiptera Cyanea)
The orangetail damselfish is a very colorful fish. As adults, males and females of the species exhibit distinctly different coloration. Both sexes are bright blue in color. Females and juveniles have clear fins and bear a black dot near the edge of the dorsal fin. Mature males boast fiery orange colors on the hindquarters and tail and sometimes the nose. Matures males can show aggression towards small or passive tankmates. Be sure to include abundant hiding places with this species.
Chrysiptera cyanea is among a handful of blue damsels in its genus. It is not as aggressive as the similar and closely related Fiji Blue Devil damselfish (C. taupou).

Benefits of Aquacultured Livestock
Aquacultured Orangetail damselfish offer a huge advantage over wild-caught stock. For example, when cultured and grown out in captivity, they adjust more easily to aquarium life. They can be less aggressive. And, aquacultured livestock better tolerates shipping stress. Best of all, by purchasing captive bred fish you support the aquaculture of marine organisms, helping to make our hobby more sustainable!
