Description
Ocellaris clownfish are sometimes called False Percula Clownfish because they look so similar, but they are different. Ocellaris clownfish, compared to Percula clownfish, are less aggressive and hardier. Captive-bred ocellaris clownfish are even more hardy and disease resilient than their wild-caught counterparts. If you are interested in buying a percula clownfish, consider buying an ocellaris instead for these reasons.
If you simply want a classic fish, then this fish is great for you as well. Ocellaris clownfish are easy to care for and can be kept in aquarium as small as 20 gallons. Although these clownfish are captive-bred, ocellaris clownfish originate from the Indo-pacific. They can be kept in pairs, but having more than one pair can create issues. They are peaceful with most other fish but it is advised to avoid keeping them with predatory fish.

More Information
Ocellaris clownfish are great at being hosted by anemones. There is a wide variety of anemones that will host them, but bubble tips are the most popular. Because clownfish are protandrous hermaphrodites, they can change sex. The largest clownfish in a tank will always be female while all the other clownfish will be male. It is possible for there to be more than one female, but it often doesn’t work out. A male clownfish can turn into a female, but a female clownfish will not become a male. This can be important to know when trying to pair clownfish.
