Description
Striped Blenny (Meiacanthus grammistes)
The striped blenny (also known as line-spot harptail blenny) is a pretty little reef fish that is suitable for any nano- or large-scale marine aquaria. The species is fairly social and gets along well in small groups (generally a male with a group of females) when housed together in larger tanks. It adapts well to captive conditions. Like most other fang blennies, it is extremely hardy (especially captive-bred specimens) and is resistant to disease. It eats just about any sort of aquarium food. It stays pretty small and is thus appropriate for smaller tanks.

Striped Blenny Species Information
Meiacanthus grammistes can be found in the Western Pacific Ocean. It prefers open water environments, though it might venture into shallower nearshore parts. Despite its small size, it is quite brave; this is certainly in part because its impressive agility, but also because of its ability to deliver a mild venom through its fang-like teeth. Handle this species with care!
Benefits of Aquacultured Aquarium Livestock
Aquacultured fishes offer a huge advantage over wild-caught specimens. For example, when bred and raised under captive conditions, they adjust more easily to aquarium life. They are also less likely to carry disease. Even more, aquacultured specimens can better tolerate shipping stress. Most notably, by purchasing aquacultured striped blennies you support the aquaculture of marine organisms and help to make our hobby more sustainable!
