Description
Darwin Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
The Darwin ocellaris clownfish (also known as the black clown or black & white ocellaris) is a bold color variant of the common clownfish. In mature individuals, this rarer form is nearly jet black with crisp white stripes. Even its eyes are dark! Unlike many “designer” (i.e. domestic) variants, the Darwin clown is found naturally within a small region near Darwin, North Australia. This particular breed of clownfish naturally prefers the magnificent anemone (Heteractis magnifica) or Merten’s carpet anemone (Stichodactyla mertensii); in captivity, it also accepts bubble tip anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor).

Benefits of Aquacultured Saltwater Fish
Aquacultured clownfish are always preferable to wild-caught specimens. For example, when captive-bred, they adjust much more easily to aquarium life. Furthermore, they are less likely to carry disease. Aquacultured specimens can better tolerate shipping stress. And, by purchasing captive-bred fish you support the aquaculture of marine organisms and help to make our hobby more sustainable!
