Description
Berghia Nudibranch (Aeolidiella stephanieae)
Aiptasia anemones can destroy an entire well-established reef aquarium. Even as harmful as they are, they remain one of the most common pests in the hobby. There are many critters that can be used to control them; however, few of these are reliably reef-safe. The berghia nudibranch is absolutely guaranteed to not eat anything but aiptasia anemones. In fact, it is so specialized to feed on Aiptasia that it will invariably starve without them. These tiny sea slugs are rarely observed by the keeper once placed in the tank due to their nocturnal habit; results are usually evident after after a couple of weeks. Not to be kept with peppermint shrimp, hawkfish and most wrasses!
We recommend 5-10 berghia per 100 gallons, depending upon level of aiptasia infestation. See below for more information.

BENEFITS OF CAPTIVE-BRED BERGHIA
Captive-bred invertebrates provide a huge advantage over wild-caught specimens. Because they are cultured under captive conditions, they are better adapted to living in an aquarium and tend to be more disease resistant. They are also better able to handle shipping stress. By purchasing captive-bred organisms, you are supporting the aquaculture of marine organisms and helping to make our hobby sustainable!
AlgaeBarn keeps these berghia nudibranchs in an invertebrate-specific system to minimize the transfer of fish parasites and other unwanted hitchhikers.
