ORA Misbar Fancy Ocellaris

Description

Despite its unusual yet beautiful coloration and pattern, the Misbar Fancy Clownfish has the same care requirements as any other captive-bred ocellaris clownfish. It is extremely hardy and easy to care for. This fish looks somewhat similar to a normal ocellaris with a few key differences. First, its body has a deeper, rich orange coloration with some dark orange areas. Its fins are also outlined in a thicker, bolder black. This gives it its elegant appearance. Then, of course, there is the misbar side of things. Normal ocellaris clownfish have three vertical white stripes that are generally uniform. This fish can have stripes that disconnect in the middle. It is a subtle difference, but it makes this fish very desirable. Like other ocellaris clownfish, it can be hosted by a wide range of different anemone species, however an anemone is not required. This fish can also be kept in a pair. It will get along with other fish as long as they are not other clownfish. As a general rule, you should only keep clownfish together if they are a pair, but some hobbyists have kept a group of them successfully.

Color: Rich orange body with some darker “shaded” areas. The fins are outlined in a thick black. One or multiple of the white stripes will be irregular and disconnected.

Clownfish are already hardy regardless of where they come from, but captive-bred clownfish are especially hardy. They tend to do better in aquariums because that is what they were born and raised in. Captive-bred clownfish such as the Misbar Fancy Clownfish are more resilient to disease and better adapted to aquarium life. They also handle shipping much better than their wild-caught counterparts. What’s more is that purchasing captive-bred fish helps the ocean by discouraging the wild-caught trade, making our wonderful hobby more sustainable.
