Description
ORA Hyacinth Birdsnest
One cool thing about corals is the huge variety of growth forms that they exhibit. Aquarists generally try to smartly mix colony shapes–often right next to each other–to eccentuate these stark differences. One shape that looks great next to a big, broad plating form is a slender branching form. Nothing is more slender and branchier than a birdsnest coral! And one of the most elegant of them all is the ORA Hyacinth Birdsnest. Its long, thin branches have slightly rough texture. Branches intertwine in seemingly random directions as the colony grows. Like many birdsnest corals, it is known for its fast growth. It does however have quite fragile branches, and so prudent placement helps to ensure that it is not constantly getting broken. Thankfully, most of the broken pieces will easily survive attachment to a frag plug or the hardscape. This amazing Seriatopora features a pale peachy pink base color with dark purply blue polyps and white growth tips. Its pink coloration may become darker with age. The ORA Hyacinth Birdsnest is best placed at bottom-middle tank height with medium-high light levels moderate-strong water flow.
