ORA Ice Tort Acropora
Fast growth isn’t necessarily always preferable among SPS corals. For example, slower growers can be pretty nice when selecting from groups of highly branching acros, as these will relieve you of the pressure to constantly prune around crowded spaces. Not only is the ORA Ice Tort Acropora a slow-growing strain, but it is also incredibly handsome with its light, cool coloration. This beauty features a deep golden apple green base countered nicely with baby blue branch tips. The dramatically contrasting dark base and blue polyps, as well as the green rims and nearly white branch tips, demand attention in any reef tank. While it superficially resembles the California or Blue Tort in its growth form, its colors are distictly different; moreover, this strain exhibits noticably longer and stouter branches.
This lovely “tort” is best placed at mid-high tank height under medium-high lighting with moderate-strong water flow.

The Benefits of Farmed Ice Tort Acropora
Grown under captive conditions, captive-bred livestock offers several distinct advantages over wild specimens. It tends to be more disease resistant, harbors fewer pests and is better capable of handling shipping/acclimation stress and therefore is specially adapted to living in an aquarium. By purchasing captive-bred Ice Tort acros, you support the aquaculture of marine organisms and help to make our hobby more sustainable!
