Description
The ORA Lightning Maroon Clownfish is captive-bred, however unlike many other designer clownfish, the Lightning Maroon was first found in the ocean before becoming wildly captive-bred. Nonetheless, it is a rare variant to find in the ocean. This fish has the same care requirements as other Maroon Clownfsih, but it has a slightly different appearance. Instead of plain white or gold stripes, this fish has “holes” or patches of red on its white stripes. This gives the stripes an electric look. The stripes are irregular and unique to individual fish. The body is the same rich, dark red color that Maroon Clownfish are loved for. Maroon Clownfish are one of the largest and most aggressive clownfish. They are bold and feisty. To avoid issues with aggression, add this fish last or close to last. If you wish to keep the Lightning Maroon Clownfish in a pair, make sure there is a substantial difference in size. This fish is great for reef aquariums and can be hosted by anemones. It accepts a wide range of different aquarium foods and is easy to care for.
Some things to note: these fish are highly sensitive to copper, so do not dose any copper when quarantining. Also, do not use a net to move it because its cheek spines will get entangled.

More Information
Because this fish is captive-bred by ORA, it is hardier and more resilient to disease than wild-caught fish. Captive-bred fish are far less likely to carry a disease from ORA than the ocean. With that, you are getting a fish that is better adapted for aquarium life and better able to handle the stress of shipping. The purchase of captive-bred fish helps the ocean by discouraging the harmful wild-caught trade while supporting the captive-bred industry. This makes our wonderful hobby more sustainable.
