A key feature of Pod Pate is its remarkable shelf-life. An unopened can remain fresh on the shelf for more than 3 years! Just refer to the bottom of the can for the specific expiration date. Once opened, you can store Pod Pate in the refrigerator with the lid on for up to 1 week. For portions you can’t consume within the week, simply freeze and thaw when ready to use. The handy canned packaging, coupled with the extensive shelf life, ensures a nutritious and tempting food source is always available.

 

Feeding Time for Captive Bred Mandarin Fish

This routine ensures that our mandarins are accustomed to a readily available and storable dry food source. We recommend Pod Pate for anyone with small marine life or if you’ve purchased a captive bred mandarin from us.

Interestingly, Mandarin fish feed similarly to hummingbirds — they graze throughout the day. By augmenting their diet with Pod Pate at regular intervals, the mandarins can consume multiple substantial meals while continually snacking on live copepods. This balanced diet helps mandarins consume enough calories for healthy growth and development.

How to Use:

  1. Open the can top using the pull-tab, akin to opening a can of beans.
  2. Discard the metal top.
  3. Use the provided spoon to measure the desired portion size.
  4. Introduce the desired portion size to your marine aquarium.
  5. Replace the plastic lid on the top of the metal container.
  6. Store the unused portion in the refrigerator!

Fantastic dietary supplement

I use the Pod Pate as a dietary supplement but I could just as well call it a treat. The reaction out of "all" the fish and inverts is unbelievable. I opened up the can and immediately dumped the contents into a quart sized freezer bag and spread it out so it formed a thin layer inside the freezer bag which I then put in the freezer. At this point it is super easy to use, I break a little piece (about the size of my pinky nail) and drop it in about 30ml of aquarium water (It's amazing how many Pods are in that small amount). In about 30 seconds it is ready to use, I then use Julian's Thing to intake about 15ml of the Pod Pate/aquarium water mixture and spot feed various areas around my tank (ie near corals, in caves, around the reef structure itself, and in the water column) and everything comes out to feast on the tasty little treat. When I go back with Julian's Thing the second time with the last 15ml, you would think that Julian's Thing was everybody's best friend, because everything is following it around waiting for more Pod Pate to dispense. Great product and totally worth the price since it is going to last a long time in the freezer and I only do this once or twice a week.
