Description
ORA Bird of Paradise
The Bird of Paradise is a favorite strain of Seriatopora coral at ORA. It is more or less two-toned, with a bright yellow-bright green base and mauve polyps. Its branch tips are a bit fatter and more blunt than other members of its genus. This strain has unusually large and dense polyps that jiggle in strong currents; in fact, when they are fully extended, you might not even see the green base beneath them. One might slightly increase the water flow rate in order to encourage retraction of the polyps (in order to expose the electric green base a little). Some report that its polyps are larger in high-nutrient conditions. It exhibits the color under higher Kelvin lighting. The ORA Bird of Paradise is rather adaptable; it tolerates a bottom-middle tank placement, medium-high light levels and moderate-strong water flow.
