Description
Biota Hairfin Dwarf Goby
The Hairfin dwarf goby is a cute nano goby perfect for very small aquariums or even micro biotopes. It is peaceful and indeed prefers to live in small groups in larger aquaria. It guards nooks and crannies in the rock scape against other small fish and makes small dashes through the water chasing food. It has a red internal body stripe bordered above by white stripes and below with two rows of broken white stripes on the lower body. White stripes cross the head while short red dashes cross the back. A handsome, hardy species that is fun to watch!

Hairfin Dwarf Goby Species Information
This species is distributed rather widely, occurring across the Western Pacific from Vietnam and Indonesia (Moluccas) to Japan (Ryukyu Islands) to French Polynesia, Melanesia and Australia. It inhabits various reef habitats (especially lagoon reef rubble) to around 15 meters depth. It may live singly but sometimes forms small groups. Often confused with the very similar E. spilota (shoulderspot dwarf goby).
Benefits of Aquacultured Livestock
Aquacultured hairfin dwarf gobies offer a huge advantage over wild-caught specimens. For example, when cultured and grown out in captivity, they adjust more easily to aquarium life. They are also much less likely to carry disease. Better yet, aquacultured specimens can better tolerate shipping stress. Best of all, by purchasing aquacultured fish you support the aquaculture of marine organisms and help to make our hobby more sustainable!
